A swift and coordinated tactical intervention by the National Gendarmerie has intercepted an alleged cross-border child trafficker, rescuing a young girl just miles before she could be smuggled out of Cameroonian territory.

Acting on a high-priority alert from top military command, elements of the Garoua 3 Gendarmerie Company launched a targeted search operation along National Road No. 1, focusing on public transport vehicles heading towards the North Region’s capital.

The breakthrough occurred near Ngong, in the Tcheboa Subdivision. At approximately 9:00 a.m., Major Biewa Tchame Pierre and his unit conducted a systematic passenger check on a commercial bus, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect, identified as Samba Cédric. He was caught traveling with the underage victim.

Preliminary intelligence reveals a highly calculated, multi-national trafficking pipeline designed to exploit the vulnerability of the minor. The suspect has been taken into custody, and the minor has been placed under secure protection.

The National Gendarmerie’s specialized investigators are currently focusing on three main axes: interrogating the suspect to uncover and identify the foreign-based accomplices operating within the Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire nodes and determining whether this specific abduction is part of a larger, systemic transnational human trafficking ring.

The Gendarmerie is using this high-profile arrest to remind parents and guardians of the vital importance of close supervision of minors, while urging local populations to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest law enforcement post.

The success of this intercept highlights the crucial value of real-time intelligence sharing between the civilian population and defence forces. Thanks to the alertness of the chain of command and the precision of Major Biewa Tchame’s team, a major cross-border crime was stopped in its tracks on National Road N°1.
